Many motorists, including myself, will travel on California’s highways this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Today, here at Slice of Appel PI, we would like to reiterate this week’s announcement from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that this weekend will be designated as a maximum enforcement period. So please remember for those heading out on road, don’t forget to buckle up, be sure to designate a driver and make sure to eliminate all distractions while driving.
Last year, over Memorial Day weekend there was a significant increased in the number of people killed collisions. According to statistics from the CHP, “24 deaths statewide, a 41 percent increase from the previous year, and 60 percent of those killed were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.” There were also “1,367 arrests for driving under the influence statewide in CHP jurisdiction during the holiday weekend.”
These are alarming statistics that are worth sharing with others. Thanks for reading Slice of Appel PI today and we hope you continue to read and share our blog with others. We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!
