Bay Area Drivers Rank Poorly

Earlier this month Allstate Insurance Company released its ninth annual “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report™.”  The findings in the report are based on Allstate claims and used the frequency of car collisions to rank nearly two hundred cities to discover America’s safest driving city. This year’s top honors went to Fort Collins, Colorado. If you drive in that city you are likely to experience an auto collision only every 13.9 years, which is 28.2% less likely than the national average of 10 years. How do Bay Area driver’s compare? Check out below for a great comparison of bay area cities included in the report:

Analyzing these statistics reveal a few things about Bay Area drivers. In 2013 San Francisco drivers not only rank last in the SF Bay Area but also the nation, with one of the nation’s worst driver rankings.

The report found that all drivers the cities located in the Bay Area were more likely to be involved in an accident than the national average. Also, when comparing the rankings from the previous year, only Sacramento ranked significantly higher than they did in 2012, every other city either remained the fairly the same or was ranked worse than their previous ranking in 2012.
